Thursday Thanks

I am thankful for the pitter-patter of little feet,
running through my house with glee.
I am thankful for waking in the morning,
to  the squeals of delight from a baby.
I am thankful for the wet kisses of a
little one who already knows how to love.
I am thankful for the dimples and bright eyes
of a baby girl who fills my world with joy.

Long Time No Blog

It has been nearly 5 months since I last posted. I'm not sure how I got off the blogging track, but I have not had the energy or desire to post to my blog, nor have I been following any other blogs with regularity.

Since it is the first day of a new month, and the month in which I was born, I think it is time for me to get back to blogging. Now that I have made this decision, I need to start thinking about what I want to write about, but, as always, I know that I will be full of baloney!

Thursday Thanks

Good golly, it has been a long time since I have posted to my blog. My blog must be feeling lonely and neglected, but such is life.

After a recent two week vacation, the only thing I can possibly post my appreciation about today is my family. I was fortunate to spend time with my mom and dad, my sister, my aunt, and my big daddy (who is a friend and former boss of mine). The highlight of my trip was my mom's 75th birthday party.

My mom, whom I have posted about before, is the glue that holds our family together. It was so wonderful to be with her, my dad, my sister, my brothers, their spouses, and my nieces and nephews. I can't think of a better reason for all of us (minus those who could not make it, but who there in spirit) to be together than to celebrate my mom.
She.Is.Love.And.Loved.

Six-Word Sunday

Beach weekend with my loves. Sublime.

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Thursday Thanks

Today I am thankful for a surprise invitation that I received last night from Matt's girlfriend, Brooke, to join her, Matt and Gwenne on their trip to Long Beach, WA, this weekend. I am certain that Matt was more surprised than I was when Brooke spontaneously (and without consulting Matt) said, "Hey, Barb, what are you doing this weekend? You should come with us to the beach!"

What a delightfully charming invitation! I allowed Matt a chance to talk to Brooke about it privately, after which he said, "Mom, you are going to the beach with us!" So I shall pack my bag and head out on the highway, so thankful and appreciative of Brooke and Gwenne and all the love they bring not only to Matty, but to me!

Monday Musings

Thinking about life...about love...about work...and play...and growing...and growing up...and what it means to be happy...and how much my attitude affects all of my relationships and thoughts...how something can seem horrible one day because I am grouchy, but no big deal the next because I am content.

Thinking about little girls turning one..taking their first steps so tentatively and then with a blink of the eye, walking without hesitation. Thinking about babies learning to love and learning who loves them. Giving baby kisses...and getting a wet one from a babe and knowing it is the best thing in the world.

Thinking about society expectations...family expectations...living truly and authentically...and what to do if your sense of self doesn't match what everyone else expects...do we have to fit in little squares that someone else has defined? Thinking we (I) should be more accepting...loving...tolerant...supportive..especially if someone else has a perspective we have never experienced and cannot truly understand.

Just thinking...

End of the Month (EOM) Blog

Wow, it seems like it was Christmas just yesterday. I don't know where this month went, but the last day of January is already here. It reminds me of a job I had in my youth when I worked at The Broadway Department Store. We used to have an End of Month (EOM) sale where clearance items were put out at greatly reduced prices, but only at the end of the month.

Anyhow, since this month flew by and I only blogged once, I was thinking maybe this will become an EOM blog. I hope not, but of late my mind has been so focused and engaged at work, I am finding that I don't have the mental energy to write on my blog, or even read blogs, and I love reading lots of different blogs. But lately, it is only once or twice a week when I read blogs, and it is obviously less that I am posting.

I still feel like a newbie when it comes to blogging, so maybe I will figure out how to get in a groove of posting on a regular basis, even if it is only once or twice a week. I really hope this does not become an EOM blog!
